What is the meaning….

sporadic cramplike pains in my gut.

Got home last night, crawled into bed and slept on and off for almost twelve hours.

Could barely make it into work, since my innards were seizing up on the train.

Thiis office really has no place to go and sit in comfort.

And yet I left here early last Tuesday and don’t really feel like I can do it again. So can I sit it out for five more hours?

  1. If you’re not feeling at all well, why are you going into work?

Why do you think you shouldn’t create a void by your absence — especially if (at the same time) you, your students, and your coworkers all have a vested interest in your getting well and not being out for an even longer period?

    Feel better.

  3. Ack – I hope you feel better very soon! And speaking as one of the unfortunates who has limited sick time, it is still better in the long run to take the time you need to get better than to go to work, feel sick longer, and maybe even get worse from the stress of it all. Go home and get the rest you need!!!

  5. I’ll tell you the meaning

I gave you my f—ing VIRUS, that’s what the meaning is!

Okay, add GUILT to the SHAME I felt previously. I’ll just go slit my right wrist open in the bathtub and have my heirs cut off my left hand and bury it separately, thanks.

The good news is, it lasts two days, with a tiny echo on the third.

Feel better soon! Oh, I’m so sorry….

  7. Yikes! Feel better! I’m sending waves of healing energy your way.

I’ll rattle off an e-mail later. It’s way overdue. Perhaps that will prove theraputic.

  9. Try drinking something hot (preferably not coffee) to relax your guts, and go home.
If you insist on staying, lay on the floor and roll around a little. It should stir up the nasties in your gut and release some of the cramps.
Hope you make it thru the day!
    Get better…!

  11. *hugs* Get better.

Also, buy a bean bag chair for your office. It’s great for when you aren’t feeling well… and you’ll make new friends in the office when it’s vacant.

  13. Thanks for the good wishes

I don’t find beanie furniture comfortable anymore. I do sit at an aeron chair in the ofice but I’d love for there to be some overstuffed arm chairs available, where one could catnap.
