Dear Hive Mind….

Let me as you all a question:

Here is my dilemma – At the end of the year we conduct boards for our exiting MFA students. These are meetings between five faculty members and one student that last for around 90 minutes. I need to record these meetings and then be able to present the students with a copy and retain an archive copy. The way we’ve done this in the past is via a cheap audio cassette recorder. I’d like to do it via cd. My laptop has a microphone jack and I’m wondering if there is some sort of software solution that would allow me to record these meetings as MP3s and to then output to cd? Or is there some other way I should do this? minidisc? Should I just buy a cassette recorder with a line out and use that? This doesn’t have to be high quality, but i’d like it to be as simple as possible.
