I know I’m asking for trouble but…

Reply to this post and…

1. I will tell you what song reminds me of you.
2. I will tell you what celebrity/public/fictional person you remind me of, either personality-wise or looks-wise.
3. I will give you one word that I associate with you when I think of you.
4. I will tell you what color(s) I associate with you.

Then steal this for your journal and make someone else’s day as well.

  1. You’ll never know just how much I miss you
You’ll never know just how much I care
And if I tried, I still couldn’t hide my love for you
You ought to know, for haven’t I told you so
    A million or more times?

You went away and my heart went with you
I speak your name in my every prayer
If there is some other way to prove that I love you
    I swear I don’t know how
You’ll never know if you don’t know now

You went away and my heart went with you
I speak your name in my every prayer
If there is some other way to prove that I love you
    I swear I don’t know how
You’ll never know if you don’t know now

  3. I want a ride on this whirlygig of yours!

I can’t do a whole smattering of these on my own journal, but after a bit more thought, I will spin one for you … .

  9. Ah, one of my favourite Todd songs. I was listening to A Wizard/A True Star in my car on Christmas day. It was this album, in particular this tune, that made high school bearable to me, as though Todd were speaking to me through my stereo and saying, “It’s OK, you’ll make it through this.”

My question is, if he had the Brecker Brothers elsewhere on the album, why did he have to use the Mellotron brass on this track?

  11. Nayland, thank you for the (as always) thoughtful reply.

I don’t know the song and it will likely be a while before I can track it down to have a listen. If you have a moment, would you mind telling me a little bit about it and what made you associate it with me?

No rush, though. Everyone is banging down your door on this one!

And I’m sure I’ve told you this before, but I really wish you were sitting in my lap right this minute.

  13. I’ll go first. ’tis only fair:

    1. “Genius” by The Murmurs
    2. Roland Hinton Perry’s “Neptune Fountain” at the Jefferson Building, Washington, DC
    3. Magnetic
    4. Cerulean blue

  15. Fair enough. Again, just a quick take. 😉

    Dreaming Is Free” – Blondie

Strangely enough, my late father. (No, I’m not gonna start calling you Daddy.) 😉

    Gifted

Cobalt (definitions included, some of which, I think, apply)

  17. Coo’, Boo! I’m not familiar with the T. Rex song, but I’m going to hunt it down! Damn! The bald Reese Witherspoon? Hahaha! I’m pertier and perkier than I thought!

Having not met you, this is tough, but I’m going to give it that old college try:

    S & G: “Hazy Shade of Winter”
    Raymond Burr
    Insightful
    Charcoal

  19. Groucho Marx: I’m Against It
    Alice Faye
    Omniscient
That color you see when you close your eyes and rub them and then someone jabs huge spikes through your lids and into the socket

  20. An actor equally at home in comedy or drama, and yet one whose public persona did not seem to be an exact replica of their inner life, leaving a gap that urged one to speculation.

  21. Well, getting half of ’em isn’t bad.

I don’t know who William Kunstler is… and as far as I know, iridescent isn’t actually a color. That aside… I don’t quite understand why I make you think of iridescence. I don’t even own any iridium. 😉

    Wallop? astute…

Cad Yellow Medium. hmm, not ochre?

    now here’s you:

The Five O’Clock Whistle – Duke Ellington
the uncredited actor who played the giant poseidon in the 1963 “Jason & the Argonauts”
    incisive
    Revlon Forever Scarlet

  25. …I remind you of an outrageous civil rights lawyer?!

    (deep breath)

Ok, now I get the iridescence thing. 😉 Greasy biker + lots of piss = puddles with a shimmering color-play….

If I were milkier, we could say “opalescent” 😉

  27. Re: That Darn Peep!

Is it that I remind you of Shake or that he reminds you of me? (Yes, there is a difference.)

    Either way, it’s very sweet.

    In kind:

    Roxy Music, “Over You”
    John the Baptist
    Lambent
    Wrought iron

(I was going to say Holofernes – why is it I keep imagining you headless? And why do I suspect you won’t mind that?)

  29. Mike said it more eloquently than me – see above. But let me say that it holds a very special place in my heart, and is about triumph over adversity – something you seem to know a bit about.

And you can never invite me to your lap enough times.
