The new world order….

I’m shocked to see no oscar nomination anywhere for Fahrenheit 9/11.

I mean, I think Michael Moore is a showboating bully, who I wouldn’t want to spend any time with, but are you gtoing to tell me that Andrew LLoyd Weber’s The Phantom of the Opera (three nominations) or Tupac – Ressurection are more worthy of notice?

Is this the gesture that will lay the myth of the liberal media to rest at last?

  1. Moore made a conscious decision to not submit Fahrenheit 9/11 for Best Documentary (where it would have been a shoo-in, looking at the nominees), going for Best Picture instead (and also because he felt he had already won his Oscar and wanted the category to be open for others). There was no way that was going to be nominated for Best Picture against Hollywood films…it was too divisive.

  3. You actually submit yourself for nomination in these kinds of awards.

I am the recipient of an Emmy award, we submitted 5 interactive shows in 3 categories and won one Emmy for it.

  5. Because he reached for the “best picture” nomination, he apparently pissed off the Academy and they shunned him on all counts. At least that’s what I read on the AP.

  7. Seems everyone is frightened by the truth these days- among other things. I did not think it was a “great” documentary- but they should give the guy an award for getting some americans interested in politics and the discourse that followed. I mean how long can the topic of a Big Mac last?

  9. I saw the interview on either Letterman or Tonight Show where Moore came out all dressed up and announced that he was going for Best Picture. I thought for sure he’d get the nomination.

But maybe after Bush won the election, he put his evil people to work to secretly change ballots (a la CARRIE) so that Moore wouldn’t win the nomination. 🙂

It’s very disappointing that seems he aimed too high and didn’t have a backup plan.
