I think we’re on the precipice.
It might be an adoption of “ActivityPub” across different services. (It’s what Mastodon uses to connect different servers and Tumblr has said they’ll support it.) Imagine going to blogs or Mastodon or Tumblr or wherever and seeing a Follow/Subscribe button to have a single view of folks in a sequential order view on your preferred service.
