Can Toothpaste go bad?

Especially crappy Duane Reade brand knockoff toothpaste? Toothpaste that comes in a little squirt bottle so that it looks like a bluegreen condiment?

After being on this job for a couple of weeks I ralized that I would want to brush my teeth here on occasion. Well, those occasions have been so few that today as I took the goo and the blue Oral B brush with the small head into the bathroom, it was struck with the comprehension that it’s taken me more than an two years to get through less than a quarter of the container. Immediately the stuff looked suspicious and tasted gluey and brackish in my mouth. Problem is – I use a different brand at home, so my comparison memory is way out of whack.

Clean Mouth? or Deadly Mouth?

  1. I Would hazard a guess, Mr. Blake, that you’ve had worse in your mouth. <grin>

But then again, when you’ve had worse, it has probably been far more aesthetically pleasing…

  3. “So long, it’s been good to know ya…”

Oh god, you are so doomed!

(Think Jeff Goldblum tugging on his teeth and fingernails in the bathroom scene from Cronenberg’s The Fly.)

…unless it was wintergreen, in which case you’re probably okay, except your teeth will tend to glow in the dark and emit sparks.

  5. I don’t know if they’d help you in that way, but they’d probably help me.

If I’ve gotten off but good, I feel good and am thus more inclined to brush and floss more regularly.

    🙂

  7. Is that really true? I started boycotting them because I heard that they were right-to-lifers, then I heard that that was an urban myth. I still don’t use them, but I am curious about your source on them.

  9. What I use at home is Arm and Hammer, since it always seems the least sugary to me. But I’m entranced these days with the more liquid-y in the bottle tooth products be cause they seem so much more sensible for travel.

  13. I dont think so…

I dated a Quaker once and Tom himself called to speak to my Bf to try and lure him away from his other job to work for tomsofmaine… he’s a bigtime Quaker (Tom) – I doubt the Quakers support bush.
